about

Thanks to Showtime’s “The Affair,” the public will get a glimpse of Greg Felden’s debut, full-length album early. “When the Change Comes” will be featured in the show’s second episode of the season, which premieres tonight, June 24th. The song, which presents an apocalypse both as a reality we seem to increasingly contemplate and as a metaphor for how we respond to what life throws at us, features Brian Whelan (Dwight Yoakam) on lead guitar and backing vocals and Jerry Borger (Ziggy Marley, Jonathan Wilson) on the Hammond B3 organ.

lyrics

It might come from up above you / It might come from down below / Take us all together / Or take you on our own / Will it be a thing of beauty? / Will it be our overthrow? / Or just the same old lesson / You should have learned so long ago / When the change comes / When the change comes / Tell me where will all the ragged people go? / To the high ground or to the low? / When the change comes / Some will count up their possessions / Some will dig themselves a hole / Let out all the darkness / That’s living in their soul / They might say they saw it coming / They might say it never showed / Or say they have the answer / But I know nobody knows / When the change comes / When the change comes / Tell me where will all the righteous people stand? / On the water or on the sand? / When the change comes / I was living in the shadow / I was running out of time / The day you came and found me / And said that you’d be mine / I’m still hearing all the forecasts / And I’m seeing all the signs / But when I see you coming / I can’t bring myself to mind / When the change comes / When the change comes / Tell me where will I be living out my time? / By your left side, and by your right / When the change comes / When the change comes
